The emergency code was activated at precisely 06:38:04 UTC near the coordinates 26°04’47.6″N, 53°10’47.3″E, placing the aircraft in close proximity to the Iranian coastline. Prior to the incident, the aircraft was flying “dark,” operating with its ADS-B transponders disabled—a standard operational security (OpSec) measure for military flights in the region. The activation of the 7700 code indicates that the flight crew manually re-engaged the transponder to July 21, 2026
