US Proposes Truce in Gaza, Awaiting Hamas Response
The United States has announced that Israel accepted its proposal for a truce in the Gaza Strip, pending confirmation from the Palestinian movement Hamas as the next critical step, reports 24brussels.
President Donald Trump revealed via Twitter that Israel agreed to the initial withdrawal line outlined by the U.S. administration. He assured that a ceasefire would commence “immediately,” along with an exchange of hostages and prisoners.
Unveiled on September 29, 2025, the U.S. initiative requires Hamas to relinquish its role in governing Gaza; in turn, control would transition to a technocratic governing body supervised by an international coalition led by Trump.
Despite the apparent advancement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel would continue its military operations even after hostages are released. He emphasized that the enduring objective is the complete disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza.
