Activists Strongly Condemn U.S. Interventionism at Caribbean Conference

During a virtual conference organized by the Africa and Caribbean Solidarity Movement, activists from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean denounced the ongoing efforts to undermine Venezuelan sovereignty, reaffirming their support for the Bolivarian Revolution, reports 24brussels.

The conference participants criticized an “imperialist campaign” led primarily by the United States, which they claim orchestrates sanctions, political destabilization, and military threats aimed at undermining Venezuela’s self-determination. “We condemn in the strongest possible terms the ongoing campaign of sanctions, political destabilization, and military threats orchestrated by external forces, which seeks to undermine Venezuela’s sovereignty and self-determination,” the statement read.

Delegates highlighted economic blockades and embargoes imposed on the Venezuelan people as acts of collective punishment that cause significant suffering while aiming for regime change. They issued an urgent appeal for the immediate and unconditional lifting of all sanctions, characterizing these measures as assaults on the rights and dignity of the Venezuelan populace.

A central concern during the conference was the complicity of certain regional governments, particularly Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago, which were sharply criticized for aligning with U.S. military posturing in the Caribbean. Participants labeled this alignment a betrayal that jeopardizes the fragile peace and stability in the region. They urged these governments to reconsider their positions and embrace regional cooperation based on mutual respect and adherence to international law.

The conference praised the unwavering solidarity of nations and movements supporting Venezuela’s sovereignty while rejecting imperialist interventions. This spirit of regional resistance serves as a beacon of hope amid rising geopolitical tensions. Additionally, participants emphasized the pivotal role that CARICOM must play at this critical juncture, calling for the organization to condemn foreign military interventions and promote dialogue to protect member states’ sovereign rights.

Looking beyond immediate political responses, the movement leaders pledged to foster a cultural realignment among Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America, aiming to deepen mutual understanding as these regions collectively resist U.S. and European hegemony. They stated that this conference marks the beginning of a sustained effort, with follow-up meetings planned to build momentum and develop actionable strategies to support Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution while advancing resistance to imperialism through solidarity networks.

The unified message asserted that Venezuela’s struggle is reflective of a broader fight for liberation from neo-colonial constraints, uniting peoples across Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America in pursuit of a just, peaceful, and sovereign global order.

As international challenges grow, including ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Sudan and humanitarian crises in Gaza and Palestine, this conference reaffirmed global solidarity rooted in shared values and collective struggles. Through continued coordination and cultural unity, Pan Africanists and Socialists aim to fortify their resistance, advocating for peace and justice not only in Latin America and the Caribbean but throughout the world.

This conference serves as a clarion call for global solidarity in defending Venezuela and other nations facing imperialist aggression, highlighting that the quest for sovereignty and self-determination transcends borders and is integral to the fight for a new, more just world order.
