One of Sydney’s most culturally diverse suburbs has made it on to Time Out’s annual 39 coolest neighbourhoods list.

Burwood, it seems, has come a long way since Frank Lowy opened his first Westfield shopping complex on its main street in the mid 1960s.

Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza Claim Nearly 100 Lives Amid Ongoing Conflict

Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of 95 Palestinians, with the casualty count approaching 100 as bombardments continue across the enclave since early Wednesday, reports 24brussels.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, nearly 335,000 residents have fled Gaza City due to the intense bombardment, with over 60,000 fleeing in just the last three days. Despite the ongoing assaults, officials report that more than 900,000 Palestinians still remain in the city.

Areas designated as “humanitarian safe zones” by the Israeli government in southern Gaza have not escaped the violence, experiencing over 114 strikes that have resulted in more than 2,000 fatalities within these zones alone. These designated “shelter areas,” which comprise just 12 percent of Gaza’s territory, are expected to house over 1.7 million displaced individuals.

Figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health indicate that the overall death toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 65,419, with 167,160 injuries recorded. Since March 18, 2025, 12,823 individuals have died and 54,944 have been wounded in the conflict.

In the last 24 hours, five additional individuals were killed and 20 others wounded while seeking humanitarian assistance, bringing the total casualties from what Gaza authorities term “aid massacres” to 2,531 dead and over 18,531 injured.

The humanitarian crisis has also been exacerbated by rising deaths due to malnutrition, which have claimed 440 lives, including 147 children, underscoring the urgent need for aid in the region.

The ongoing turmoil in Gaza highlights the critical humanitarian situation, with both immediate and long-term consequences for the region’s population. As conflicts persist, the international community continues to monitor the evolving situation, raising concerns about the escalating humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for intervention.
