Good morning and welcome to our live coverage of UK politics. Massive Rally in Honduras Marks Pivotal Moment for Rixi Moncada

The Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre) of Honduras held a significant rally in Trojes, El Paraíso, on September 6, 2025, dubbed the “Rixi Moncada’s Grand Victory Mobilization.” The event aimed to highlight the growing support for Moncada, who has committed to advancing the national refoundation agenda initiated by President Xiomara Castro, reports 24brussels.

Addressing thousands of supporters, Moncada emphasized her plans for a universal scholarship program, dignified employment for youth, improved healthcare and education systems, and enhanced support for agricultural producers and the National University of Agriculture. She asserted that these elements are crucial to her vision for transforming Honduras.

“Refoundation is built with the voice and strength of the people,” Moncada stated on social media, reflecting her ambition to establish a democratic and socialist state in Honduras. She praised the current government’s accomplishments, declaring, “The State is once again where it is most needed.”

The upcoming elections in November hold significant importance, as Hondurans will not only elect their next president but also choose 128 legislators and an equal number of alternates for the National Congress.

As a candidate continuing Castro’s progressive vision, Moncada is set to face strong competition from conservative candidate Nasry Asfura of the National Party and centrist-liberal Salvador Nasralla of the Salvador of Honduras Party. The election will significantly influence the direction of the country’s political landscape, determining whether Honduras will continue its refoundation journey or revert to traditional right-wing governance.
