Mitch McConnell has said he doubts the Republican Party will win back the Senate in 2024. Mitch made these shocking comments in an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju. Moscow Mitch said he knows things are ever-changing in the world of politics. And it’s true. Politics is the one industry that’s guaranteed to change like the weather — one day it’s torrential downpours for one Party, and the next, it’s sunny skies.

Mitch worries about candidate quality and says the GOP needs better candidates to compete. Electability is critical, the turtle says. “I just spent 10 minutes explaining to you how we could screw this up,” a pessimistic McConnell said during the interview. “No, no — I’m not,” he said when asked how confident he is of a senate win in 2024.

Mitch explained he thinks the GOP losses in states like Arizona and Georgia were because of low-quality candidates. Well, it’s good that Mitch acknowledges that their candidate quality stinks. On the other hand — we’ll be playing a lot of defense with the Senate, so we must fight for our candidates. For example, Sherod Brown is going to need us in Ohio. So is John Tester in Montana.

But nothing is ever guaranteed in politics. Mitch is right to be worried. Kari Lake is sniffing around a senate run. So is Blake Masters. Who knows how many terrible Republican candidates will want to run? Let’s hope — a lot.
